Labor Day Weekend: 2005

For Labor Day we decided to visit two popular areas around Austin. We had heard a lot about these places but we had never taken the time to visit them.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The first place we went was Hamilton Pool. This is a unique pool in that it is a collapsed grotto and canyon formed by thousands of years of water erosion. These pictures are good but they nowhere near give it justice! We had to hike quite a ways to get to the pool but it was worth it!
These pictures didn't turn out very good of us because we're under the overhang but...they are excellent pictures of the pool.
Our friend, Ron, came with us for the day.
Since we were in the same vicinity, after spending the day at Hamilton Pool we headed to our favorite barbecue restaurant, the Salt Lick!
The next day we went to Mt. Bonnell which is the highest point in Austin.
It's 102 steps to the top but it's totally worth the climb...the view is spectacular!
After soaking up the scenery at Mt. Bonnell we headed to our favorite Tex Mex restaurant, The Hula Hut. It sits on Lake Austin so we sat on the deck and hung out for the afternoon. We met this guy, John, because we were discussing how much he looked like Ben Stiller. He overheard us talking and started laughing saying he gets told that all the time. We ended up hanging out with him for the afternoon. We had a lot of fun!
